An original doll-house scale dresser design based on the discontinued 4 drawer Ikea Mandal dresser.
After the first test prints, I needed to widen the drawer rails by 0.5mm on each side, otherwise the drawers were just wide enough, with just enough rail, to slip out and drop down when pushed to one side.
The final design has drawers that are functional, fit nicely, and are solid enough in the drawer walls to not fall apart or break too easily.
Printing
All of the models are designed to print without supports, with the drawers requiring some assembly. For a full dresser you will need to print:
- 1x dresser-main.stl
- 3x dresser-large.stl
- 3x dresser-large-face.stl
- 1x dresser-small.stl
- 1x dresser-small-face.stl
Assembly
The drawer faces all need to be glued to their drawers. I suggest slotting all of the drawer bodies into the dresser body, and laying the dresser on its back. Lightly apply glue to the front edge of each drawer, and lay the drawer faces in place, adjusting as needed to align the faces. Let sit for 5 minutes, and the glue should be sufficiently cured to stand the dresser up. You can test the drawers at this point, but I recommend 24 hours of curing before using the drawers too much, otherwise you risk the drawer faces pulling off.
